Technology from Sentrycs was deployed to support airspace security during the World Economic Forum 2026 in Davos, as part of a broader counter-drone system operated by Swisscom Broadcast.
The system was used to help protect the high-profile international gathering, which brings together political leaders, business executives and other senior figures each year. Around 3,000 participants attended the 2026 event, making airspace security a key component of the overall protection plan.
Swisscom Broadcast, working with local authorities including the Graubünden Cantonal Police, deployed a multi-layered counter-drone architecture tailored to the mountainous terrain and security requirements in Davos.
Detection and mitigation role
Within that system, Sentrycs’ radio frequency-based technology was used to detect, identify and help mitigate drone activity. The system provided continuous monitoring of the lower airspace and supported early detection and classification of drones operating near the event.
Officials said the setup enabled a tiered response, including options to disrupt or take control of drones where permitted under regulatory frameworks.
Markus Lichtensteiger of Swisscom Broadcast said early detection and structured response capabilities were important in maintaining airspace security during the event.
The deployment highlights the increasing focus on counter-drone measures at major international events where unauthorized drones pose risks ranging from disruption to potential security threats. The FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted in the U.S. this year, has been a particular area of concern as authorities work to protect attendees from potential drone threats.
Systems used in Davos were designed to provide a consistent operational picture while reducing the workload on operators through automation and integrated sensor inputs.
Ondas, the parent company of Sentrycs, said the deployment reflects broader demand for counter-drone technologies that can operate within civilian regulatory environments and be adapted to complex, high-profile settings.
