Sentrycs expands long-range counter-drone capabilities

Sentrycs has released Version 6.0 of its counter-drone software, introducing several updates intended to improve performance over long distances, broaden drone model compatibility and streamline operator control.

The software, which is based on what the company terms “Cyber over RF” technology, is used to detect, identify and mitigate unauthorized drone activity by analyzing drone communication protocols.

A core change in the 6.0 release is an expanded mitigation range, now covering a 10-kilometer diameter. The company says this is aimed at improving protection for areas such as remote borders and large infrastructure sites.

The system’s architecture also now enables full 360-degree coverage from a single sensor, potentially reducing the number of hardware units required for full-area protection.

Version 6.0 also adds compatibility with DJI drones using the OcuSync 4.0 protocol, including newer models such as the DJI Air 3, Mini 4 Pro and Matrice 4.

These additions reflect an effort by Sentrycs to keep pace with evolving commercial drone technologies. Sentrycs claims its software is capable not only of detecting and identifying these drones but also of performing protocol-level takeovers, effectively allowing the system to disrupt or control the drones in question.

The update also features a redesigned command-and-control interface, described by the company as more intuitive and efficient. It is intended to improve operator situational awareness and speed up decision-making during active engagements.

Additional behind-the-scenes upgrades include improved signal processing and the introduction of predictive timing algorithms, which Sentrycs says help maintain performance in low-signal or interference-heavy environments. These changes are delivered through software updates, requiring no new hardware.

Sentrycs says its systems are currently deployed in over 20 countries and used in a variety of contexts including critical infrastructure protection, border security, and military applications.
