Silvus Technologies has introduced a new spectrum sensing system aimed at improving radio frequency detection and situational awareness for military and security applications.
The FASST 6000 spectrum sensor is designed for use at the tactical edge, supporting signals intelligence, electronic warfare and distributed RF sensing operations. The company said the system is intended to provide operators with faster detection and geolocation of radio frequency emissions in complex environments.
The handheld device uses Silvus’ Filtering by Aliasing Spectrum Sensing Technology, or FASST, to scan across a wide frequency range. According to the company, the system can measure signals between 1 MHz and 6 GHz and is capable of high-speed scanning to detect short-duration or low-power transmissions.
Silvus said the system’s design focuses on reducing size, weight and power requirements while maintaining performance, allowing it to be deployed by dismounted operators or integrated into unmanned platforms. The system includes onboard processing and networking interfaces to support standalone use or integration into larger sensing networks.
“The launch of the FASST 6000 represents a pivotal shift for Silvus as we bring our expertise in tactical communications to the vital field of RF sensing,” said Mansour Rachid, vice president of research and development at Silvus Technologies. “We’re delivering exceptional scanning speed and precision in a compact, rugged form factor to empower our customers to detect and localize threats faster, setting a new pace for EW warfare and helping to ensure they maintain the information advantage on the modern battlefield.”
The system can also be networked with multiple sensors using Silvus’ StreamCaster mesh networking technology to enable triangulation and geolocation of RF sources in real time. This approach is intended to support both localized detection and wider-area monitoring of the electromagnetic environment.
“At Silvus, we don’t just innovate; we set the pace for the tactical edge by turning theoretical research into battle-hardened solutions,” said Babak Daneshrad, founder and CEO of Silvus Technologies. “The FASST 6000 represents our commitment to always challenging the status quo and helping ensure that the warfighter maintains a decisive information advantage.”
The FASST 6000 is available as a handheld device or as a module for integration into aerial, ground and maritime platforms.
