Silvus Technologies secures US DoD clearance for UAS radios

Silvus Technologies has announced that its StreamCaster SC4200EP and LITE SL4200 MANET radios have been added to the U.S. Department of Defense’s Blue UAS Framework, following their assessment by the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU). The DIU’s evaluation confirmed that both radios meet the DoD’s standards for cybersecurity, supply chain integrity and operational reliability.

The StreamCaster LITE SL4200 radio is now the first MANET radio to be listed on the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) Green UAS Cleared Components list.

The addition of the SL4200 to the Blue UAS Framework was enabled through a data-sharing agreement between AUVSI and DIU. Casie Ocaña, Director of Trusted Programs at AUVSI, highlighted the significance of this development, stating that it represents a key step in aligning commercial drone technology with secure operational standards for defence applications.

The StreamCaster SC4200EP is a software-defined radio designed for tactical edge communications, offering flexibility in form factor and frequency options. The SL4200 is geared towards unmanned platforms where size, weight, and power constraints are critical.

The DIU’s Blue UAS Framework program is designed to enhance UAS capabilities while minimising risks for government customers by ensuring that only secure and trusted technologies are deployed in defence operations.

AUVSI’s Green UAS certification ensures that commercial drones and components meet the highest cybersecurity and NDAA supply chain requirements, reinforcing their reliability for defence applications.

Silvus Technologies’ inclusion in both the Blue UAS Framework and the Green UAS Cleared Components list demonstrates the company’s ongoing efforts to enhance the security and reliability of communication systems used in defence operations.
