SMARTSHOOTER unveils SMASH DOME portable C-UAS

An Israel-based developer of fire control systems, SMARTSHOOTER, has announced its latest counter-UAS system, SMASH DOME. The lightweight, portable solution is designed for tactical area defense against drones, supporting both covert and overt operations.

As drones increasingly challenge traditional defense measures, including jammer-based methods, SMASH DOME offers a multi-layered approach. The system integrates detection, tracking and precise kinetic interception to address evolving aerial threats.

At the center of the system is the SMASH Hopper, a lightweight, remote-controlled weapon station equipped with an assault rifle and a ballistically calculated Fire Control System (FCS). The Hopper enables accurate targeting of drones and UAS, regardless of their communication link or model. It can also integrate with command-and-control systems, such as ATAK, for automatic target detection and tracking while providing real-time ballistic solutions.

In addition to the Hopper, SMASH DOME incorporates active RF radar and passive optical detection systems, offering detection ranges of up to 1–2 kilometers depending on the sensor. The system continuously transmits target data to a proprietary tracking system, enabling real-time interception. SMASH DOME is designed for deployment on vehicles, at borders, and in strategic locations.

Michal Mor, SMARTSHOOTER CEO, noted:

“Our world is increasingly facing the challenge of rogue drones disrupting and endangering critical areas. SMASH DOME, powered by our unique SMASH technology, provides a cost-effective and precise solution to this threat. Its seamless integration with existing command-and-control systems makes it a versatile asset, serving as both a standalone defense and an essential ‘insurance policy’ for passive C-UAS solutions.”

“By minimizing ammunition use and ensuring effective interception of both small drones and larger UASs, SMASH DOME exemplifies SMARTSHOOTER’s dedication to protecting forces and critical infrastructure from evolving aerial threats.”

The system employs a person-in-the-loop design to ensure operational control and precision. Operators can visually confirm targets via the FCS feed, enabling automatic tracking and a controlled kinetic response. This approach minimizes collateral damage and enhances operational efficiency, particularly in sensitive or densely populated areas.

SMARTSHOOTER says SMASH DOME is a scalable, adaptable solution aimed at addressing the increasing threat posed by unmanned aerial systems.
