TAF Industries advances interceptors to counter Russian Shahed drones

Ukrainian defense manufacturer TAF Industries is developing a new interceptor drone, the TAF-I10, while also preparing its Octopus interceptor for serial production as part of efforts to counter Shahed-type drones.

According to the company, the TAF-I10 is a high-speed interceptor UAV designed to resist electronic warfare. It features a protected communication channel and encrypted MilELRS protocol and is intended to engage aerial targets.

“The military had long been using our 10-inch Kolibri as an interceptor. Field solutions were working, so we decided not to stand aside but to take up this initiative and improve it at the manufacturer level,” TAF Industries stated.

The company said that over several months, more than 350 aerial targets were destroyed using Kolibri 10-inch FPV drones operating in an interceptor role under its TAF Bonus program. The initiative rewards service members with points for confirmed video evidence of enemy targets destroyed using Kolibri FPV drones, with points redeemable for equipment, gear and additional drones.

The TAF-I10 interceptor is currently in development and undergoing testing.

In parallel, TAF Industries is preparing for serial production of the Octopus interceptor drone. The system is described as a certified development approved by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

According to information published by the company, the Octopus-100 variant was designed specifically to counter Shahed-type drones. It is equipped with an automatic target guidance module, can reach speeds of more than 300 kilometers per hour and operate at altitudes of up to 4,500 meters.

The developments come as Ukrainian manufacturers continue to expand domestic counter-UAS capabilities in response to persistent aerial threats.
