During the Paris Air Show at Le Bourget last month, Robin Radar Systems and Thales formalized a multi-year Global Framework Agreement (GFA) through a signing ceremony. The GFA solidifies the delivery of IRIS® drone detection radars from Robin Radar Systems to Thales.
Under this agreement, both companies have established purchase and supply conditions, paving the way for the global implementation of Thales’ Counter-UAS solutions, which will now include Robin Radar‘s IRIS® drone detection radar in various projects worldwide.
Robin Radar Systems was chosen by Thales for its radar detection technology expertise, particularly in the area of micro-Doppler radar. This advanced technology allows for the easy identification of micro and mini drones and crucially distinguishes them from birds, an essential capability for the effectiveness of sophisticated Counter-UAS systems.
The first application of the GFA will be in support of the €350M PARADE program, officially announced in 2022. Led by Thales and CS Group, the consortium received notification from the French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA) about this program.
These drone countermeasure systems will be deployed during significant sporting events.
