Washington County authorities have arrested two individuals for attempting to smuggle contraband into Washington State Prison in Davisboro, Georgia, using a drone. The incident occurred late at night, when a deputy from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office noticed suspicious activity near the prison.
According to officials, the deputy observed several vehicles parked near the facility just before midnight on February 26. Upon closer investigation, law enforcement discovered a man and a woman in possession of a large drone equipped with packages zip-tied to its base. The suspects were identified as Shantavia Glass, 38, of Clarkston, and Eddie Williams, 55, of Stone Mountain.
The incident comes amid calls for greater UAS mitigation authority from law enforcement and prison officials in the U.S.

Authorities found a significant quantity of contraband, including approximately 10 pounds of marijuana, 7.6 ounces of methamphetamine and nearly 30 pounds of tobacco. Sheriff Joel Cochran stated that the interception prevented these illicit goods from reaching inmates and reaffirmed the department’s dedication to maintaining prison security.
Glass and Williams now face multiple felony charges, including trafficking in marijuana, trafficking in methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute a Schedule II drug and six counts of trading with inmates. Both individuals are currently in custody as they await legal proceedings.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office emphasized its ongoing efforts to prevent drone contraband smuggling, highlighting the vigilance of its deputies in protecting the community and upholding security measures within the prison system.
