uAvionix announced this week that its FlightLine ADS-B surveillance and situational awareness system has been chosen by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as an approved product for use in Air Traffic Control (ATC) operations to enhance airport situational awareness and mitigate the risk of runway incursions.

FlightLine offers a cost-effective solution for deployment in Air Traffic Control Towers (ATCTs) to deliver essential surface situational awareness to facilities lacking current surface surveillance systems, including 44 airports. While the FAA will oversee the procurement of FlightLine towers, airports or Federal Contract Towers can also directly acquire them.

The FAA secured the initial FlightLine deployments by uAvionix for the Indianapolis International Airport (KIND) and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (KAUS) towers, with full operational capability expected by June 30, 2024.
