Ukraine pursues domestic “Iron Dome” to counter relentless Shaheds

Ukraine is intensifying efforts to build a domestically produced air defense network, turning to emerging technologies such as laser weapons, interceptor drones and low-cost countermeasures as it confronts sustained aerial attacks from Russia.

Among the systems under development is a prototype laser weapon known as the Sunray, which Ukrainian soldiers and engineers recently demonstrated in a field test. Mounted on a pickup truck and resembling a telescope fitted with cameras, the system tracked a hovering drone before destroying it within seconds.
