In a recent Telegram post, Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, announced the country’s intention to produce interceptor drones designed to counter Russia’s airborne threats, notably targeting Orlan, SuperCam, and ZALA drones.

Federov is seeking technical talent, such as developers and engineers who can create an interceptor drone to counter enemy drones without wasting other crucial air defense assets.

Key technical requirements mentioned in the Telegram post include:

  • Able to fly and intercept drones at speeds of 100 – 150 km/h
  • Can fly at an altitude of 1,500 m
  • The drone can receive target information from detection sensors- and can quickly take off and locate the enemy drone, then “hit” the enemy drone

Solutions that meet the criteria will be further evaluated for possible development by the Brave1 Cluster. The Brave1 Cluster is the Government of Ukraine’s unified coordination platform to foster collaboration among all stakeholders within the defense technology industry. This platform facilitates cooperation by offering organizational, informational, and financial support for defense technology projects throughout Ukraine.
