Field of Regard

Field of regard describes the total area captured by the radar sensor after it has completed its mechanical rotations or electronically steered scans.  Radar antennas can be mechanically rotated or electronically steered to scan a wide area of interest (up to 360 degrees). When choosing a radar, it is important to understand how the type of radar employed relates to the area covered, both in the horizontal and vertical plane.
