Marduk Technologies and Hanwha Aerospace sign C-UAS agreement

Estonia’s Marduk Technologies has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hanwha Aerospace of South Korea to collaborate on the development of counter-UAS technologies and explore broader defence research and development opportunities. The agreement was signed during the ADEX 2025 defense exhibition in Seoul.

The MoU was formalized by Leet Rauno Lember, Chief Operating Officer of Marduk Technologies, and Kim Dong Hyeon, Head of the Land Systems Business Group at Hanwha Aerospace.

Under the agreement, the two companies will cooperate on the joint development of counter-UAS technologies in Estonia and investigate additional areas of cooperation across defence innovation. Marduk Technologies will contribute its experience in passive optical detection, a capability often used within multi-layered counter-drone architectures to enhance situational awareness and improve detection of small aerial threats.

The partnership marks the latest in a growing number of international collaborations between nations in the Indo-Pacific and the West. Such collaborations aim to strengthen C-UAS capabilities amid the increasing use of drones in modern warfare and asymmetric operations. For Marduk Technologies, it also represents an opportunity to deepen engagement with one of Asia’s leading defence organizatons.

“Partnering with Hanwha Aerospace, one of the largest defence primes in Asia, is an important milestone for Marduk Technologies,” Lember said. “This cooperation reflects our shared vision for advancing C-UAS capabilities and fostering innovation through international collaboration.”

Both companies said the initiative aligns with their broader efforts to develop innovative air defence technologies and to strengthen the defence industrial ties between Estonia and South Korea.
