D-Fend Solutions, a company specializing in non-kinetic, radio frequency (RF) cyber-based technologie de contre-drone, has raised $31 million in the first closing of a new investment round.

Led by Israel Growth Partners (IGP) and supported by existing investor Vertex Ventures and new participant Vertex Growth, the funding aims to enhance the company’s technological offerings and expand its market reach. The investment also brings IGP General Partner Uri Erde onto the company’s Board of Directors, joining existing members Yoram Oron of Vertex Ventures and Rami Hadar of Claridge Israel.

“The growing size scope, and complexity of rogue drone threats demand advanced, precise, and reliable solutions,” said Zohar Halachmi, CEO and Chairman of D-Fend Solutions. “This investment will enable us to continue innovating and expanding our capabilities, ensuring we remain at the forefront of counter-drone technology.”

C-UAS Hub spoke with Jeffrey Starr, Chief Marketing Officer at D-Fend Solutions at the Counter UAS Technology USA conference, who shared his thoughts on the funding and the feedback from the event:

“I’m thrilled about this $31 million funding and gratified by the feedback we’ve received at this pivotal Counter-UAS Tech event. This investment not only validates our innovative approach to cyber counter-drone technology but also empowers us to accelerate our global expansion and product development,” he said.

“As the drone threat landscape evolves, D-Fend Solutions is poised to lead the charge in protecting security forces, sensitive sites, and events worldwide. The energy, response and discussions at this conference underscores the critical need for advanced, differentiated C-UAS solutions, and we’re excited to be at the forefront of this rapidly growing market,” he added.

The announcement follows a recent success for D-Fend, which partnered with the U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) under its Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) program.

Israel Growth Partners views D-Fend as a disruptor in the counter-drone space, likening it to other technology leaders such as Cellebrite.

“D-Fend Solutions fits the profile of a category-creating company that develops and deploys deep and defensible technology to address threats posed by the mass proliferation of beneficial but also potentially dangerous devices and products, in this case drones,” said IGP’s Uri Erde.

The company’s flagship product, EnforceAir, uses RF cyber-takeover technology, aiming to neutralize unauthorized drones with precision and minimise the potential for collateral damage. The system has reportedly been deployed across military zones, airports, critical infrastructure, prisons and public events to protect airspace against drone threats.
