Metamaterials: Changing the Arrays of Counter UAS Radar is an Aerospace & Defense Technology podcast interview with Echodyne.

What is metamaterials electronically scanned array (MESA) technology and how is it providing a new approach to surveillance within counter unmanned aerial system (UAS) radar applications?

Echodyne Corp., is a Kirkland, Washington-based company that designs and builds commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) MESA radar technologies for counter UAS, surveillance and several other applications. In 2024, the company has made several advancements and discovered new customers and partnerships with its MESA radar technology.

In March, for example, Kongsberg Geospatial partnered with Echodyne on the integration of its Echoshield radar into the Kongsberg IRIS Terminal and IRIS GCS airspace deconfliction solutions. American Aerospace Technologies, Inc. (AATI) has also partnered with Echodyne to integrate the EchoFlight radar into their AiRanger aircraft that has been cleared by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for commercial Beyond Visual Line-of-Sight (BVLOS) flight operations, one of the first UAS to do so.

BRINC, a company that provides drone technology for first responders, has also partnered with Echodyne to integrate the MESA radar technology into its purpose-built Drone as First Responder (DFR) solution.
