D-Fend named in Gartner report on top-funded cyber electronic defense startups

D-Fend Solutions has been named in a recent Gartner report examining top-funded startups in the cyber electronic defense sector, reflecting continued commercial interest in non-kinetic counter-drone technologies.

The report, Emerging Tech: Top-funded Startups for Cyber Electronic Defense (CED), analyzes investment trends and technology priorities across the counter-unmanned aircraft system market.

According to Gartner, commercial success in the counter-drone space “hinges on nonkinetic, high-precision” technologies capable of neutralizing threats without causing collateral damage or interfering with legitimate civilian communications. The report notes that solutions suited to urban and regulation-sensitive environments are drawing particular attention from investors.

Gartner further recommends that organizations seeking to establish commercial leadership prioritize scalable, non-kinetic mitigation systems designed to limit unintended effects. It also advises the use of AI-driven sensor fusion to differentiate between hostile drones and legitimate signals, and to demonstrate practical effectiveness in real-world environments.

The firm states that the drone detection and mitigation category has attracted significant commercial investment. This is driven in part by the growing availability of low-cost drones, which can pose risks to private enterprises, energy infrastructure and public venues. As a result, funding has focused on companies developing scalable systems that can operate in complex electromagnetic environments without resorting to destructive or wide-area jamming approaches.

D-Fend Solutions develops RF-based, cyber-oriented counter-drone systems that are designed to take control of unauthorized drones without kinetic interception or traditional jamming. The company’s inclusion in the report places it among startups identified by Gartner as attracting notable funding within the cyber electronic defense segment.
