ローデ・シュワルツ、次世代マルチバンド妨害機を発表

Rohde & Schwarz has announced the launch of ARDRONIS Effect, a next-generation multi-band jamming system designed to counter evolving drone threats. The system, an upgrade within the ARDRONIS family, aims to enhance the ability of defense and security forces to protect personnel, platforms and infrastructure against increasingly sophisticated unmanned aerial threats.

ARDRONIS Effect has been developed in response to the growing use of jam-resistant drones and armed drone swarms in modern conflicts. The system is designed to operate effectively in contested and congested environments, where adversaries may employ drones across multiple frequencies to evade detection and disruption.

Addressing complex drone threats

Jan Link, Product Manager for C-UAS Solutions at Rohde & Schwarz, highlighted the shifting nature of drone warfare, particularly with the proliferation of FPV drone attacks.

“C-UAS operators need to have the capability to jam every potential frequency, even during swarm attacks with multiple drones operating on different frequencies,” Link stated.

To address these challenges, ARDRONIS Effect leverages Rohde & Schwarz’s capabilities in signal intelligence, sensor fusion and electronic warfare. The system has achieved Technology Readiness Level 9, signifying full operational capability, and is already in service with undisclosed customers in Europe.

System capabilities and integration

ARDRONIS Effect is controlled through the proprietary ARDRONIS Control Center software and can function as a standalone system or be integrated with other ARDRONIS solutions, such as:

  • ARDRONIS Detect: For early drone signal identification
  • ARDRONIS Locate Compact and Locate Advanced: For tracking both drones and their operators

Additionally, ARDRONIS Effect features an open architecture, allowing integration with existing counter-drone systems. The modular nature of the system enables flexible deployment depending on mission requirements.

“The main challenge of ARDRONIS Effect is to jam a wide area but in a way that is effective enough to stop the operation of weaponized FPVs or intelligence-gathering drones,” Link explained. “This requires ARDRONIS Effect to jam simultaneously on multiple bands at high output power across the entire spectrum without gaps in time and frequency.”

The introduction of ARDRONIS Effect reflects the growing need for electronic warfare solutions capable of neutralizing diverse and adaptive drone threats. As unmanned systems continue to play an increasing role in modern warfare, effective jamming solutions are becoming essential for both military and security applications.

With its latest development, Rohde & Schwarz aims to provide armed forces and security agencies with an advanced tool for mitigating drone threats in real time. The system’s integration capabilities also support a broader approach to airspace security, ensuring compatibility with existing C-UAS infrastructures.
