Louisiana’s new “We Will Act” Act gives state and local police the authority to intercept and disable drones posing credible public-safety threats. Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry signed the law on June 18, 2025, declaring it a first-of-its-kind measure in the U.S.

The law authorizes specially trained officers to deploy kinetic or non-kinetic countermeasures against UAS operating unlawfully near schools, large public events, critical infrastructure and other “high-risk” sites.

“This law puts Louisiana on the front lines of drone defense,” Landry said in a press release.
