Axon 비전 has completed operational evaluation activities for its EDGE ClearSky drone detection system, according to a company announcement, as militaries continue to look for ways to counter fast-moving FPV drones on the battlefield.
The testing was carried out by an unnamed defense force and focused on the system’s ability to detect FPV drones targeting maneuvering units. The company said the system successfully completed the assessment, marking a step forward in its development, though no specific performance data was released.
The EDGE ClearSky is part of Axon Vision’s broader portfolio of AI-based computer vision systems. It is designed to detect, identify and support the interception of aerial threats directly from armored platforms using thermal sensors and real-time data processing.
According to the company, the system is intended to operate as part of a “detect-to-intercept” loop, integrating with onboard weapon systems to enable rapid responses to incoming drones. This reflects a broader trend toward automation in counter-drone defenses, particularly against FPV systems that are difficult to track and engage using traditional methods.
Axon Vision said it is continuing trials of ClearSky with additional military customers in multiple markets, suggesting the system remains in a testing and evaluation phase rather than full-scale deployment.
The company is also working with 레오나르도 DRS on systems for the U.S. market, including demonstrator platforms designed to provide end-to-end detection and interception capabilities for aerial threats.
“We are very pleased with the results of this operational evaluation and view this as an important milestone in the operational maturation of EDGE ClearSky,” said Neri Zin, CEO of Axon Vision. “As FPV drone threats increasingly become a defining feature of modern warfare, strong, rapid and reliable detection capabilities are no longer optional – they are an operational necessity.”
The announcement comes as FPV drones have become a growing challenge in recent conflicts, where their speed, low cost and maneuverability have made them difficult targets for conventional air defense systems.
While Axon Vision positions ClearSky as a potential solution to this problem, further testing and real-world deployment will likely determine how effective such systems are in operational conditions.
