Drone incursions delivering contraband into prisons remain a persistent security challenge in the UK, with officials at HMP Wandsworth saying organized groups continue using unmanned aerial systems to smuggle drugs, mobile phones and other prohibited items into the facility.
The issue was highlighted during a visit by UK Justice Secretary and Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy and former Home Secretary Amber Rudd, who has been appointed to lead an independent six-month review of the prison system.
