ACS wins US contract for AI weapon system

Allen Control Systems (ACS) has been awarded a contract to integrate its Bullfrog autonomous weapon system onto U.S. Special Operations Forces (SOF) maritime platforms in partnership with defense contractor ManTech, the company announced today.

Bullfrog is designed to enhance precision and adaptability in modern combat by combining artificial intelligence, computer vision and proprietary control systems. The system can be mounted on both legacy and modern weapons, enabling precise engagements against a wide range of targets and improving accuracy over existing battlefield systems.

The contract marks a significant milestone for ACS, as SOF units are among the most technologically demanding elements of the U.S. military. Their adoption of Bullfrog, according to ACS, evidences the system’s readiness and strategic value in complex maritime operations.

“Maritime SOF units operate in some of the most complex and high-stakes environments our military faces,” said Mike Wior, co-founder and CEO of ACS. “Their selection of Bullfrog reflects an urgent need for adaptable systems deployable across land and maritime platforms and trusted to defend against the expanding drone threat.”

ACS claims the system is the only autonomous weapon station currently available that can effectively neutralize hostile drones, however autonomous systems such as Ukraine’s Sky Sentinel have shown battlefield success. With the rapid proliferation of low-cost, weaponized unmanned systems shaping the future of warfare, the company positions Bullfrog as a critical capability for both U.S. and allied forces.

By working with defense partners like ManTech, ACS aims to accelerate deployment of its technology to counter emerging threats with greater speed, accuracy and affordability. The company says Bullfrog is part of a broader effort to provide advanced autonomy and robotics that can equip militaries for the next era of drone warfare.
