The Hungarian Army has practiced deploying anti-drone corridors during Exercise Adaptive Hussars 2025, the country’s largest military drills in modern history. According to the Ministry of Defence, the corridors were installed in the Martfű-Vézény area to shield convoys, maintenance sites and repair points from potential drone strikes.
Footage released by the ministry shows troops setting up mesh barriers designed to block enemy FPV drones. The structures restrict maneuvering space, forcing drones to search for openings and reducing their ability to target vehicles or vulnerable positions. Officials said the added obstacle gives soldiers and equipment greater chances of survival in contested environments.
The drills, conducted jointly with NATO allies, began on September 1 and run through mid-October, involving more than 22,000 personnel across Hungary. Participants include regular troops, reservists, special operations units, engineers, logistics specialists and aviation forces. The exercises aim to test combat readiness, mobility, and NATO interoperability while also practicing crisis cooperation between military and civilian agencies.
Militarnyi previously reported that Hungarian forces had already crossed the Tisza River between Martfű and Vézény during the exercise. Engineers from the 2nd Engineer Regiment named after Ferenc II Rákóczi constructed a temporary bridge to allow Hungarian Lynx combat vehicles and Turkish M113 armored personnel carriers to cross under a simulated scenario where main bridges had been destroyed.
Other units played specialized roles. The Hussar unit named after Count Ferenc Nádasdy used horses to establish a concealed observation post near the river crossing before leaving them in guarded shelter.
Adaptive Hussars 2025 covers much of Hungary, with scenarios focused on logistics, command and control and nationwide equipment movements. The incorporation of anti-drone corridors reflects a mounting NATO effort to counter unmanned aerial threats across Europe.
