The United States Department of War has awarded Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) a contract worth nearly $15 million to support Ukraine’s counter-drone efforts. According to the official announcement, the agreement covers technical support, maintenance, and sustainment services for the Ukrainian Navy’s Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS) programme.

As part of the deal, SNC will provide field services and subject matter experts to help maintain and improve the operational readiness of the systems currently in use. The contract also includes “reach back” support, offering remote technical and engineering assistance for equipment deployed across Eastern Europe under NATO operations.

Work will be carried out across several locations: Rzeszów in Poland will handle the majority (52%), followed by Englewood, Colorado (44%), and Fort Walton Beach, Florida (4%). The project is scheduled to run until September 2027, with funding coming from the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative. The full amount of $14,997,575 was committed at the time of the award.

The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, based in Patuxent River, Maryland, is overseeing the contract, which was issued as a sole-source acquisition.

SNC, headquartered in Englewood, Colorado, is recognised for its expertise in electronic warfare, mission systems, and counter-drone technologies. This contract builds on ongoing U.S. efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s defences against threats such as loitering munitions and aerial surveillance platforms used by Russian forces.

The agreement also contributes to NATO’s broader strategy to reinforce its eastern flank and improve the interoperability of allied forces.
