Motorola Solutions announced on May 27 that it will acquire Silvus Technologies, a provider of mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) communications systems, in a transaction valued at $4.4 billion. The придбання, pending regulatory approval, is expected to close in Q3 or Q4 of 2025.
The move signals Motorola’s deeper push into оборона, border security and autonomous system support, sectors where Silvus’ mesh networking technology is increasingly used for high-bandwidth, low-latency and infrastructure-free communications — including in counter-UAS and contested battlefield applications.
Expanding capabilities in critical infrastructure and defense
Based in Los Angeles, Silvus Technologies supplies software-defined MANET radios used by military and security customers. The company’s products are designed to maintain connectivity in mobile or infrastructure-limited environments, and have been integrated into a range of defense and public safety systems.
Greg Brown, chairman and CEO of Motorola Solutions said:
“Safety at our front doors starts with safety on our front lines. This acquisition underscores our unwavering conviction that technology is the bedrock for protecting communities, securing borders and defending against today’s ever evolving threats, whether in the air, on the ground or in the water. As a result, we’re now expanding our intelligent network footprint and powering next-generation security for those who stand on the front lines everywhere.”
Silvus Technologies’ StreamCaster radios have been integrated into various military applications, including U.S. Army exercises and special operations programs. Their features, such as anti-jamming capabilities and resilience in contested environments, support secure communications in scenarios where traditional infrastructure is compromised.

Strategic R&D
Silvus Technologies has spent over 20 years developing features such as low probability of intercept/detection and resistance to interference which have made the systems a candidate for integration in радіоелектронна боротьба and counter-drone programs. The acquisition by Motorola aims to integrate Silvus’ research capabilities into its ongoing innovation efforts.
“We’re inspired by Motorola Solutions’ deep tradition of innovation,” said Babak Daneshrad, CEO of Silvus Technologies. “The idea that safety is the foundation on which better lives are built is not just a deeply held belief our companies share, but is the motivating force behind our R&D and work.”
Motorola Solutions intends to integrate Silvus’ engineering teams into its broader secure communications portfolio, leveraging its global distribution footprint to expand access to Silvus’ technologies in international defense and громадська безпека markets.

Transaction terms
Under the agreement, Motorola will pay approximately $4.38 billion in cash and $20 million in restricted stock to certain employee equity holders. An additional $600 million in earnout payments is possible, contingent on Silvus achieving performance targets in 2027 and 2028.
The acquisition, one of Motorola’s largest to date in the defense-tech sector, aligns with the company’s ongoing strategy to expand its presence in mission-critical communications, network resilience and autonomous system support.
