An Ottawa man faces charges after he crashed a drone carrying contraband near Beaver Creek Institution in Gravenhurst. 

Around 7pm, residents near the facility called the police and reported the drone crash in the area. Bracebridge OPP responded to the call, finding the drone and locating the man operating the drone. He was trespassing to search for the drone as he was found. 

Fabrice Ricourt-Casseus, 24, was charged with numerous counts after police seized the drone and numerous prohibited items. The charges are: two counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count each of possession of contraband before a visitor control point at a penitentiary, possession for the purpose of distributing cannabis, trespass by night, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 (Drone carrying).
