The FAA is investigating a drone that was found flying near BWI airport runway by flight crew. Reports say the drone was seen a few hundred feet below the plane heading to the airport.
The flight crew on a Spirit Airlines Flight flying into Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport spotted a drone while beginning their descent to the airport. Numerous reports say the drone was seen operating near the approach to the runway.
Members of the crew believe that the drone was only a few hundred feet below the plane. At the time of the sighting, they were only a few miles from the runway. The crew was able to land safely without an incident. This was reported to the FAA and they mentioned that this is not the first time a drone has been spotted at BWI. The FAA alerted the Anne Arundel County Police Department of the drone and is continuing to investigate the incident.
