The South Carolina Department of Corrections has released the arrest warrants for a Columbia man arrested on drug and contraband charges involving inmates at McCormick Correctional Institution.
Arnez Jaakim Thompson, 24, has been charged with: Trafficking in heroin, morphine, etc., more than 28 grams, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, criminal conspiracy, and providing contraband to prisoners.
Thompson was arrested outside of McCormick Correctional Institute on a dirt path. Officers seized a backpack containing a drone and two bags of contraband. The contents of the bag were: 113 grams of a substance that field tested positive for Fentanyl, about four pounds of marijuana, about six pounds of tobacco, cellphones, cigarettes, cigars, rolling papers, lighters, and other items.
The S.C. Department of Corrections reminds the public that after an arrest, the burden of proof is on the state to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt within a court of law (Arrest).
